With the recent announcement that the Philadelphia Flyers have pared down their list of candidates for the team’s Hall of Fame to six names, it seemed like a fitting time to dig deeper into the candidacy of each of these men to see who truly deserves such an honor at this point in time.

To recap, the six individuals in question are Simon Gagne, Paul Holmgren, Bob Kelly, Lou Nolan, Mark Recchi, and Rick Tocchet. It’s an interesting cross-section that covers nearly all of team history and figures to stir genuine debate among Flyers fans.

I’m here to make some tough calls and tell you how this should all play out. Furthermore, it’s entirely possible that all six of these gentlemen find themselves honored at some point. And most Flyers fans would probably be fine with that, as these men have all made significant contributions to the franchise.

The Philadelphia Flyers have put forth a number of interesting candidates for their Hall of Fame.

But this is a power ranking, so rank I must. Let’s go from least deserving to most as we explore the Flyers careers of these six men.
