Can the veterans stay healthy?

It was right around this time last year that the 2020 Eagles started experiencing some major injury issues. Brandon Brooks and Andre Dillard had already been ruled out for the season, Lane Johnson was battling ankle issues, Jalen Reagor and Javon Hargrave both missed training camp time, and Miles Sanders ended up inactive for the team’s Week 1 loss against Washington.

The injuries only got worse once the season began, with the team’s offensive line in particular seeing themselves depleted beyond belief. The constant injuries was arguably the biggest reason the Philadelphia Eagles were unable to stay competitive last year.

While optimism is always high in late July when it comes to a looming NFL season, the Eagles are walking into a campaign where a majority of their key players are coming off a year filled with injury. Pretty much the entire offensive line has developed a sense of “injury prone” to them, with the defensive line (Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave) and secondary (Darius Slay, Anthony Harris, Rodney McLeod) largely made up of aging veterans as well.

You obviously never want to see a team deal with injuries, especially early on in the year, but the Eagles haven’t exactly done the best of jobs building a “non injury prone” roster.

And as we all saw this past year, all it takes is one or two season-ending injuries to an offensive line to completely derail a season in the National Football League.
