Tight End

Dallas Goedert, Richard Rodgers, Zach Ertz…?

The closer and closer we get to training camp actually beginning, the more unlikely a Zach Ertz trade starts to feel. The former Pro Bowl tight end has essentially been on the trading block since last season, and yet zero suitors have been found. Teams have certainly called about Ertz’ availability, but Howie Roseman appears to be playing an extreme version of “hard ball.”

A third/fourth round asking price has effectively been established, while interested teams seem more interested in waiting to see if Ertz demand a full-on release.

So in the meantime, it feels only right to include Ertz as a member of the team’s projected tight end room. Him completely sitting out of games feels pretty unlikely, but the Philadelphia Eagles aren’t going to let him get in the way of Dallas Goedert’s development.

Goedert is playing for a new contract this season, and the Eagles seem fairly committed to building around him as a focal point to the offense.

Richard Rodgers is a new addition compared to last month, as he was brought back on a one-year deal to solidify the TE2 position. Rodgers actually had a pretty decent 2020 season, and should perform fine as the team’s go-to backup.
