Wide Receiver

DeVonta Smith, Jalen Reagor, Greg Ward Jr. Travis Fulgham, Quez Watkins, John Hightower

Another change compared to last month’s edition, the Philadelphia Eagles went ahead and waived the likes of UDFA Trevon Grimes – who I had nabbed for the sixth spot on the team’s WR depth chart. A big-bodied wideout who was extremely productive this past season at Florida, Grimes would have been a nice addition to an already young (and somewhat promising) Philly wide receiver room.

With Grimes now no longer in the building, that opens up a back-of-the-roster spot for a new Eagles wideout, a spot that John Hightower should be able grab.

Bringing back JJ Arcega-Whiteside for his third season as added “X receiver” depth behind the likes of Travis Fulgham makes some semblance of sense, but recent reports are suggesting that JJAW is walking on thin ice at the moment. The Stanford product is going to have to earn his way onto the roster, something that I’m not confident he’ll be able to do.

Hightower’s main completion during training camp will be the likes of Jhamon Ausbon, another big-bodied UDFA signing. Even if Ausbon has the better summer, my guess is Hightower will still hang around due to the fact that he’s on a rookie contract.
