Running Back

Miles Sanders, Kenneth Gainwell, Boston Scott, Kerryon Johnson

There was some chatter a few weeks back of the Eagles potentially looking to part ways with Boston Scott now that Kenneth Gainwell is in the building (they have very similar play styles), but ultimately speaking, I think Scott manages to hang around for at least the start of the season due to the veteran presence that he provides.

Sanders and Gainwell are both locks, and project to play big roles in Nick Sirianni’s new-look offense. The real roster battle is likely to be between Kerryon Johnson and Jordan Howard.

Fans have been pretty excited about Johnson since he was claimed by Philadelphia, but his roster spot is likely not as solidified everyone thinks it is. This is an oft-injured player who struggled to earn himself a role in Detroit, the odds of him coming in and commanding a big role within the Eagles offense is on the slim side.

Johnson’s main competition is the before-mentioned Jordan Howard, who is really operating on expired time. The multi-time Eagles hasn’t looked the same since his mysterious shoulder injury back in 2019, and would have to seriously impress during training camp to land himself a roster spot.
