Sam Howell, North Carolina

Ah yes, the position that nobody wants to see on a list like this – the Philadelphia Eagles are likely going to do some serious homework on the upcoming quarterback class. Even if Jalen Hurts has an above average year during his first full season as an NFL starter, Howie Roseman isn’t known to sit around and not look to improve the quarterback position. He was incredibly aggressive during the 2016 offseason when it came to moving up for Carson Wentz, and could be looking to employ a similar maneuver due to the war chest of draft assets that he currently has in his possession.

Coming off back-to-back 3,500+ yard/29+ touchdown seasons, North Carolina’s Sam Howell has all the makings of a future starter in the NFL. He’s got a big-time arm, and has been a frequent member of ’22 NFL first-round mock drafts around the football media landscape.

The Eagles would have to be pretty bad this upcoming season to be in a position to pivot towards a new quarterback, but I wouldn’t completely rule it out in the slightest. Like mentioned previously, Howie Roseman isn’t one to sit back and be patient with the starting quarterback position.

If there’s an upgrade to be made with one of his first-round picks – he’s going to do it.
