Minnesota Timberwolves

A team that’s already been pretty heavily connected to the Philadelphia 76ers over the past week or so, the Minnesota Timberwolves are expected to heavily pursue Ben Simmons this upcoming offseason. The team has been in basketball purgatory the past few seasons despite multiple high draft picks, and are borderline desperate to shake things up moving forward.

Anthony Edwards already has the makings of a future star and Karl-Anthony Towns is debatably a top five center when healthy, all they need is that third cornerstone piece to really get things moving in the right direction. They thought it would be D’Angelo Russell, but thus far, that trade isn’t looking all that great.

In Simmons, the Timberwolves get themselves a facilitator who can create open shots for the likes of Edwards and Towns. Towns likes to hang around the perimeter a bit more compared to Embiid, so the “fit” should be a little more seamless.

Simmons would also be the Timberwolves best defender and best rebounder, two things the team is in desperate need of moving forward.

I’m not sure Minnesota has an offer that will excite the likes of Daryl Morey (it’s a hard pass on DLo), but expect them to try nevertheless.
