Just over a week ago I wrote up a piece highlighting some players around the league that the Philadelphia 76ers should target in a looming Ben Simmons trade. While that’s all good and well, it takes two to tango.

Despite the very negative narrative that’s surrounded Simmons following his below average postseason performance, there are still a good number of teams who would kill to obtain his services. He’s a 2x All-Star, an All-NBA defender, an elite passer and rebounder, and is still just 24 years old. Throw in the fact that he’s under team control for another couple of seasons, and he has the makings of an in-demand talent this offseason.

Here’s a look at some of the top teams that could/should be hitting up Daryl Morey’s phone this offseason for the likes of #25.

6 teams that should be interested in trading for Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons this offseason:

Golden State Warriors

Since the departure of Kevin Durant back in 2019, the Warriors have been in a bit of an odd place. They’re still very much trying to capitalize on Steph Curry’s final years as one of the top scorers in the NBA, but have been ravaged by injuries and the lack of a third star.

Klay Thompson has missed the past two seasons due to injury, and Draymond Green has started to regress.

Simmons, who’s already one of the league’s best playmakers, would fit in beautifully alongside the likes of Curry and Thompson. Not only would he take some stress off Klay from a defensive standpoint, but Simmons would be afforded an opportunity where he’s not expected to be an elite scorer.

Simmons clearly wants to be a “pass first” type player, which is exactly the type of third star that the Warriors need alongside Curry and Thompson. A better, younger Draymond if you will.
