In a recent post for NFL Trade Rumors, author Logan Ulrich took a stab at predicting some potential new faces that could appear on this year’s “trade block.” He highlighted some big-time receivers and blockbuster stars who could end up on the move this season (should the price be right), but also listed out some smaller names who could be dealt, which is where players on the Philadelphia Eagles were mentioned.

A few Philadelphia Eagles players were named as potential “trade block newcomers.”

Three Eagles were listed in total, starting first with former first-round pick Andre Dillard:

Andre Dillard, LT

The team’s top draft pick back in 2019, Dillard’s job is in major jeopardy moving forward due to the emergence of Jordan Mailata. Dillard looked shaky during his rookie season and suffered a torn biceps last summer, whereas Mailata has almost a full year’s worth of starting LT experience under his belt now.

Here’s what NFLTR had to say about Dillard and his future status in Philly:

"More from Section 215 4 Eagles on the Bubble Who Have Clinched Their 53-Man Roster Spots Best Pennsylvania Sportsbook Promos: Win $650 GUARANTEED Bonus PLUS $100 off NFL Sunday Ticket 3 Punters the Eagles Must Target to Replace Arryn Siposs Cowboys Trey Lance Trade Proves How Screwed They Are With Dak Prescott Devon Allen Took Britain Covey’s Job on Eagles An injury cost Dillard what was supposed to be a transition year from Jason Peters to him on the blindside in 2020, Instead, Jordan Mailata impressed after Peters went down and put himself in the conversation, if not the outright lead, to start at left tackle in 2021. If Dillard loses the stating job, it’s very possible the Eagles cut bait and trade him for what they can, as Mailata is entering a contract year and would presumably be the future of the position."

It’s worth highlighting that the Eagles could simply keep both Dillard and Mailata on the roster moving forward, and begin cross-training one at right tackle, but the logic of cutting ties with Dillard this season if he loses the LT battle does make sense on paper (he’s expressed a lack of desire to play RT in the past).

The major concern is what Dillard would even be worth on the trade block – likely nothing more than a Day 3 pick.
