Joey Gallo, Texas Rangers

Probably the most intriguing player on a list like this, I could see the Philadelphia Phillies having a ton of interest in Joey Gallo this summer, especially if they’re in a position to win the NL East at the trade deadline. Not only does he add another big bat to a lineup that contains Bryce Harper and J.T. Realmuto, but it gives the Phillies a plus defender in the outfield.

Gallo won a Gold Glove last season with the Texas Rangers, and has the versatility to move all over the outfield.

While Gallo’s current .774 OPS isn’t anything too crazy, the main issue with him is likely going to be the Rangers’ asking price at the deadline. Plenty of teams will be calling about the veteran outfielder’s availability due to his borderline elite track record, and he’s also under team control through 2022.

The Phillies would have to be feeling really good about their chances to win moving forward, because landing Gallo would presumably cost some sort of upper-tier prospect.

With that said, a potential corner outfield duo of Bryce Harper and Joey Gallo would be one of the better ones in the National League. Knowing Dave Dombrowski and how he typically likes to “star chase,” this is a player I would keep your eye on.
