#1. Steven Nelson, CB

Last but most definitely not least, Steven Nelson has remained the top target for a good number of Philadelphia Eagles fans this offseason. A player who’s churned out numerous productive seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Nelson is not only the top free agent currently still available to be signed, but he also represents a player who will likely play at a high level for another couple of seasons.

Nelson recorded two interception and nine passes defensed last year, and has played in at least 15  games over each of the past three seasons. A healthy and reliable outside corner, the team that ends up landing Nelson is likely going to be thrilled with their acquisition.

The only reason Nelson has yet to sign somewhere this offseason is of course due to money, as he is reportedly asking for far more than interested teams are willing to pay. That likely includes Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles, as they’re one of the least financially sound teams in football at the moment.

Any sort of deal for Nelson would have to include multiple years and a ton of backloaded money – a risky strategy to employ even for someone of Nelson’s ability.

With that said, Steven Nelson is still the best free agent available for both the Eagles and the entire NFL, so he comfortably lands atop this list.
