In a recent article published by the fine folk over at NFL Trade Rumors, they listed out the top 100 available free agents still out there to be signed (yes, the top 100!), many of which could be of interest to the Philadelphia Eagles.

A quite extensive list that included everything from aging veterans looking to ring-chase, to younger players hunting for a new place to call home, I definitely recommend you check out the rankings for yourself.

With that in mind, I attacked the list from a Philadelphia Eagles point of view, highlighting the top ten players who I think would make sense for Howie Roseman to add heading into training camp.

Here’s how the list goes:

#10. Avery Williamson, LB

Kicking off our list with the 49th ranked free agent according to NFLTR, Avery Williamson is coming off a rather disappointing second half to the 2020 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, he plays inside linebacker, which is still a major position of need for the Philadelphia Eagles moving forward.

While Williamson’s coverage numbers plummeted upon being traded from the New York Jets to Pittsburgh, he still finished the year with 100+ tackles – the fourth time that he’s recorded such a feat during his six-year NFL career.

The addition of Eric Wilson earlier in the offseason provides the Eagles with a much-needed veteran at outside linebacker, but they could still use a proper, more established presence up the middle of the field. The coaching staff seems to have a ton of faith in Alex Singleton, but I’m not all that sold quite yet.

Williamson is also just 29 years old, so he could be a candidate to stick around past 2021 if the Eagles do look to add him to the roster at some point this summer.
