Philadelphia Eagles: Debating if the O-Line is good, or on the downtrend
By David Esser
The Argument For: Why the Eagles 2021 O-Line is in good shape
As things currently stand, the Philadelphia Eagles offensive line is healthy, and they’re actually looking rather deep across the board from a depth chart perspective.
Andre Dillard and Jordan Mailata should illicit the best out of each other throughout training camp, with the other sliding in as a go-to reserve tackle. Landon Dickerson has the makings of a plus interior substitute at either center or guard, and the likes of Jack Driscoll and Nate Herbig are both young pieces who flashed potential in 2020.
It’s unclear what type of playing shape Brandon Brooks will be in this season, but his presence alone should help the team’s blocking efforts by a considerable amount. Instead of Jason Peters starting off the season at right guard (yikes), the Eagles get to roll with one of the better interior offensive linemen in football. While his Achilles injury was undoubtedly a serious one, Brooks has recovered from season-ending injuries in the past.
If Brooks and Lane are able to stay on the field, and the previously mentioned depth options are all to fill-in on occasion better than the likes of Matt Pryor and Jamon Brown did this past season, then the Eagles should be able to field a pretty decent set of starters week in and week out.
