Philadelphia Eagles: 3 free agents that could fill the team’s vacant QB3 job

Robert Griffin III
2020 Team Baltimore Ravens
Yup, that Robert Griffin III. The same RG3 that the Washington Football Team sold their souls to acquire back in the early 2010s, before his career got derailed due to a variety of different injuries.
After a brief stint in Cleveland, RG3 settled into a nice backup role in Baltimore behind the likes of Lamar Jackson. Following a shaky 2020 season filled with injury and one really bad outing against the Pittsburgh Steelers, RG3 was released in the offseason, free to sign elsewhere.
Thus far, nobody appears to have come calling for Griffin, which is likely a signal that he’s not in NFL playing shape. However, like previously stated, the Philadelphia Eagles aren’t really in a position to be picky. RG3 had a play-style similar to Hurts when he was younger, and presumably has some sort of relationship with Flacco.
At least on paper, the addition would make sense. Griffin did just turn 31 though, so forget the idea of him being a “developmental” player.
The Eagles approach to their QB room has been confusing to say the least. The contract they handed Flacco was excessive considering how bad Flacco has been as of late, and they’re now without a single developmental piece. They’re looking more like a “QB-needy factory” than anything else these days.
