JJ Arcega-Whiteside, WR

I mean, this one pretty much speaks for itself. Two years into his professional football career, and JJ Arcega-Whiteside has shown absolutely nothing to suggest that he deserves a spot on an NFL depth chart moving forward. He struggled with poor route running and frequent drops during his rookie campaign in 2019, and then barely saw the field this past year in 2020.

Moving forward into 2021, there’s been a sense of “well maybe Nick Sirianni can finally get something out of JJAW!” While that’s entirely possible (Sirianni has a fairly strong track record with developing wide receivers during his NFL coaching career), there’s also plenty of internal competition that JJAW is going to have to stave off.

Travis Fulgham flashed elite potential over a four-game stretch last year, and new UDFA additions Trevon Grimes and Jhamon Ausborn both bring with them productive college numbers. All three players have an argument that their potential is greater than that of JJAW at the moment.

JJAW is likely to get a long leash this summer as Sirianni tries to work with him as a potential starting X receiver, but ultimately speaking, he’s likely going to end up on waivers when it’s all said and done.
