Dallas Goedert, TE

This one is rather obvious, but still worth discussing nevertheless. Regardless of if Zach Ertz is traded/released or not, it appears the Philadelphia Eagles are 100% locked into running Dallas Goedert as their TE1 this season.

Sports Illustrated’s Conor Myles reported the following earlier this month:

"Regardless of Zach Ertz’s status with the team, Dallas Goedert will sit atop of Philadelphia’s depth chart as the tight end. The departure of Ertz is still expected, but a source indicated to SI.com Eagle Maven regardless of the veteran’s presence on the roster, the Eagles are fully committed to Goedert as the team’s top tight end going forward. Ertz, if he were to remain in Philadelphia, will become Goedert’s backup. Not vice versa as it had been for Goedert’s first three seasons in the league."

With Goedert set to be a starting tight end for the first time in his NFL career, one can only assume that he’ll be setting a career-high in pretty much every statistical category possible – as long as he can stay healthy, of course.

Even with the addition of someone like DeVonta Smith this past offseason, I expect Goedert to be a major focal point within Nick Sirianni’s offense. A proven pass-catcher who presents himself as a big target over the middle of the field, Goedert should be able to act as Jalen Hurts’ “security blanket,” just like Ertz was for Carson Wentz.
