The Philadelphia Eagles added one edge rusher during the draft in Tarron Jackson, and added another via undrafted free agent signing JaQuan Bailey. A five-year player at Iowa State, here’s a bit of what TDN had to say about him pre-draft:

"Overall, Bailey’s pass rush plans need lots of diversity. He can become a bit out of control and as a result, he confuses himself with which plan of attack he wants to execute. His plans turn into a combination of a lot of various type moves which resulted in lots of wasted motion. Attacking down the middle of blockers has been a constant problem, which made it easy for offensive tackles to match and mirror his initial movements all the way through his entire rush process. Similar to the offensive line, the Eagles are always looking to add more bodies to the D-Line. Bailey is interesting due to the experience he has playing outside linebacker, a similar type of mold to the likes of recently drafted Patrick Johnson.

Genard Avery is still on the roster as well, so it feels likely that the Eagles could be experimenting with some more 3-4 outside linebacker looks moving forward in 2021.

I don’t expect Bailey to crack the roster considering the Eagles already have four edge rushers locked in at the moment (Graham, Barnett, Sweat, Kerrigan), but I’d be interested to see if they use him more as a standard 4-3 DE during training camp, or if he’s set to join the likes of Avery and Patrick Johnson as a JOKER type linebacker.
