Just how high will Anthony Harris fly with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2021?

For better or worse, Anthony Harris is the crown jewel of the Philadelphia Eagles‘ 2021 free agency class.

While that may seem a tad unusual, as typically, a player signed to a one-year, $5 million deal doesn’t fall into the “crown jewel” category, when you consider the Eagles’ meager 2021 class, featuring only three players signed to short-term contracts, it’s that to argue with the distinction.

Who knows, maybe Eric Wilson and/or Andrew Adams will shock the world and develop into an every-down starter for years to come – if that happens, my money’s on the former – but for many a fan, scout, and talent evaluator the world over, the Eagles’ 2021 offseason will be based solely on how well Harris can help to fill the shoes left by the impeccable Malcolm Jenkins; that, and how the team’s draft class are able to transition from the college ranks into the NFL (obviously).

If Harris can recapture his vintage form in South Philly, playing under his former defensive backs coach Jonathan Gannon, there’s little reason to believe he won’t be re-signed to a massive contract when the 2021 season comes to an end – either here or elsewhere. Then again, if things look more like his 2020 campaign, which wasn’t bad per se but didn’t quite live up to his hefty franchised price tag, Harris may once again be on the lookout for another prove-it deal – again, either here or elsewhere – to try to land a long-term deal while he’s still in his prime.

What does that mean for the Philadelphia Eagles? Well, they’ll surely be getting a hungry, motivated player who will be doing everything in his power to ball out this fall. But what are Anthony Harris’ floor and ceiling heading into 2021? Well, let’s attempt to find out.
