Gareon Conley

2020 Team: Houston Texans

Gareon Conley is a super intriguing free agent to consider due to his age. The multi-year pro doesn’t turn 26 until late June, which gives the Philadelphia Eagles some serious potential longterm value to take into consideration.

Like previously stated, the Eagles are in rebuilding mode, and are actively looking for younger players to build their roster around moving forward. While Conley doesn’t have anywhere close to the pedigree of a Nelson or a Sherman, his youth could be seen as a rather desirable trait to Philly. If he were to hypothetically be signed and perform at an above average level, Conley is the type of player who could be locked up at a discounted price for the next few seasons, setting the Eagles’ CB2 position in stone for the first time in years.

Conley didn’t log a snap in 2020 due to injury, but he did put together productive campaigns in both 2018 and 2019. He recorded a total of four interceptions and 28 passes defensed across the two seasons playing for both the Raiders and the Texans.

It’d be a bit of a gamble signing Conley considering his recent bout of injury concerns, but if the signing were to end up being successful, it could ultimately aid the Eagles beyond 2021 and into future seasons as well.

Worth the risk, in my opinion.
