Richard Sherman

2020 Team: San Francisco 49ers

Another quality veteran who’s yet to find a home this offseason, Richard Sherman has seemingly decided to play the long game, waiting things out til after the draft in hopes that a team will overpay for his services.

The Philadelphia Eagles aren’t particularly in a position to be handing out lucrative one-year contracts to aging vets, but if Sherman’s market never heats up, I guess there’s a scenario where he’d accept less money to secure a starting job alongside someone like Darius Slay.

Like Nelson, Sherman has been very good as of late, however he did battle with injury during the 2020 season. He only appeared in five games for San Francisco this past season, and considering his ascending age (he just turned 33), that’s something that could easily scare away a team like Philly – who already has their own fair share of injury-riddled veterans.

Sherman is worth including on this list simply due to the name value that he would bring to the position, but it’s probably the least likely outcome when compared to the other veteran corners currently in free agency. His timeline doesn’t line up with the Eagles’ rebuilding status, and he’ll likely get more money from some other team.
