This number represents the goal total for Joel Farabee, who led the team this season. And, no slight against Philly Joel because he had a very nice sophomore season for the Flyers, but it’s an extremely low number to lead a club across 56 games. In fact, Farabee’s last two goals came in the season finale, as we came dangerously close to seeing the Philadelphia Flyers fail to produce a 20-goal scorer for the first time in their history.

Yes, that number includes previous shortened campaigns such as 1995 and 2013. Simply put, the team needed more scoring from everyone. One big culprit here is Travis Konecny, who was coming off three straight 24-goal seasons but only managed 11 this year. Maybe it’s an overreaction, but we might need to be worried about his long-term viability as a productive scorer. Or we could give him a mulligan for this season and hope that he can actually grow over the coming years. Because, honestly, he’s being paid to score more than 24 goals a season.

As for the older players, it’s no surprise that the likes of Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek didn’t reach 20 goals. Sean Couturier would have gotten there if he didn’t miss some time. The team simply didn’t put the puck in the net enough, especially in the second half of the year.
