Philadelphia Eagles: 3 thoughts on sixth-round pick Marlon Tuipulotu
By David Esser
Fills a rather underrated roster need.
Philadelphia Eagles fans were already starting to get annoyed with the amount of draft assets Howie Roseman was pouring into the trenches following the Landon Dickerson and Milton Williams picks, snagging Tuipulotu in the sixth round was just the icing on the cake.
However, DT4 was a rather underrated roster hole that needed to be filled, and Tuipulotu should be able to hold it down quite nicely moving forward.
Outside of Cox and Hargrave, the Eagles defensive tackle room was looking rather grim. Hassan Ridgeway and T.Y. McGill were brought back after below average 2020 seasons, and former UDFA Raequan Williams hasn’t taken an NFL snap yet.
For a team that typically likes rotating in a lot of different players at the defensive tackle position, things weren’t looking too hot.
Roseman was able to fill the DT3 position in round three via Milton Williams, and added a plus DT4 in the sixth by way of Tuipulotu.
Now you’re looking at four locked in players at DT1-4, with the likes of McGill, Ridgeway, and Raequan Williams battling it out in camp for the DT5 job – if the Eagles even opt to carry five defensive tackles this season.
Much, much better.
