The Philadelphia Eagles select…

Scouting Report. DB. player. 54. Pick Analysis. Syracuse. Trill Williams. 84

Yet another player whom the Eagles have officially met with, Trill Williams is a 6-2, 198lbs defensive back who took reps at both corner and safety for Syracuse. A versatile athlete who thrives when allowed to get physical with opposing receivers, Williams fits the type of mold that Jonathan Gannon typically targeted when working with the Colts.

While some sites have Williams listed as a safety heading into the draft, “The Draft Network” feels he’s best suited to play boundary corner at the professional level – a top need for the Eagles heading into this year’s draft process.

If he were to make the full-time transition to CB upon being drafted, he provides the Eagles with some much needed size on the outside. This would in theory allow Avonte Maddox to slide back into the slot for the 2021 season, a role that he’s much better suited for.

Williams isn’t nearly as polished as some of the corners who are likely to go in Rounds 1 and 2, but he’s a developmental project that Gannon could mold into a starting outside corner by 2022 at the latest. The Eagles already have their CB1 in Darius Slay, they just need someone who can line up alongside him.

It’s also worth mentioning that Williams had three return touchdowns playing for Syracuse (one punt, one kickoff, and one fumble). The Eagles could use a playmaker like that.
