Philadelphia Eagles: 3 prospects worth watching in the sixth round
By David Esser
Nick Eubanks, TE
As I’m writing this, Zach Ertz is still a member of the Philadelphia Eagles roster. While it’s starting to feel like the team might hold him captive for the 2021 season, it’d still be wise for Roseman to start investing in a replacement for 2022 and beyond.
The Eagles have so many roster holes that targeting a tight end early in the draft would be foolish, but picking one up here in the sixth-round makes plenty of sense.
For what the Eagles likely want behind Dallas Goedert moving forward, Michigan’s Nick Eubanks checks off all the boxes. A physical blocker who excels in the run game, Eubanks found a majority of his receiving success through play action.
Eubanks had a below average senior season due to some injury issues, but his overall athleticism has most projections viewing him as a solid TE2 at the NFL level. Assuming the Eagles do hang onto Ertz for the 2021 season, Eubanks would get a full season to develop behind Ertz and Goedert before being asked to assume real pass-catching duties.
While Nick Sirianni likely won’t be sitting in 12-personnel as much as Doug Pederson did, having that powerful run-blocking TE2 who can occasionally get open over the middle of the field would be a nice luxury to have moving forward.
