Philadelphia Eagles 7-round mock draft: Trading up for future starters
By David Esser
The Philadelphia Eagles select…
Following the disaster that Prince Tega Wanogho ended up being last season (he’s on the Chiefs now!), it’d be wise for the Eagles to try their luck with another developmental offensive tackle towards the end of the draft. It’s always smart to invest into the O-Line, even with late Day 3 picks.
Landon Young is a 6-7, 305lbs tackle who was most effective at Kentucky as a run-blocker. While he’s still a work in progress, I’d much rather him play snaps as a backup tackle in 2021 as opposed to Matt Pryor or Brett Toth.
Last but not least, the Philadelphia Eagles are expected to add a new tight end at some point during this year’s offseason. While Zach Ertz remains a member of the roster currently, the vibe is that he’d still like to be traded.
A developmental athlete who flashed some serious potential during the 2020 season, Shaun Beyer is actually someone who could take some snaps in 12-personell alongside Dallas Goedert during his rookie season. He’s still super raw, but he proved viable as a pass-catcher for Iowa during his senior year.
The Eagles have been attached to the likes of Richard Rodgers and Josh Perkins for far too long when it comes to their tight end room, giving those snaps to a high-upside rookie like Beyer would definitely be preferred.
