Philadelphia Eagles 7-round mock draft: Trading up for future starters
By David Esser
The Philadelphia Eagles select…
I spoke about it in detail earlier this week – the Eagles would be wise to double up on cornerback during this year’s draft. Their depth behind Darius Slay is noticeably thin, and corners typically have a longer adjustment period compared to other positions.
Better to get them in the building sooner rather than later.
In Shakur Brown, the Eagles get themselves a 6-0, 180lbs corner who can line up on the boundary and in the slot. A valuable CB4 to have on the roster for the next four years.
The Eagles are going to select another QB during this year’s draft, it’s just a matter of “when” not “if.” The team genuinely needs a QB3 on the roster following the departure of Nate Sudfeld, and snagging someone like K.J. Costello towards the end of the draft is decent enough value.
Costello’s ceiling is on the lower side, but he’s got enough size and athleticism to warrant a Day 3 selection. With Joe Flacco on the roster as the team’s primary backup in 2021, it’s unlikely Costello would ever be asked to dress on game day.
He could even end up on the practice squad during his rookie season, which is fine.
