The Philadelphia Eagles select…

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. EDGE. Patrick Jones. player. Pittsburgh. 123. 54

I traded away the Eagles’ 84th overall pick in the Marshall Jr. trade, so their next pick doesn’t come until the fourth-round at pick 123. I actually flirted with trading this pick away too as an attempt to move up for a linebacker, but wasn’t able to work anything out.

EDGE is an underrated need for the Eagles moving forward, and Pittsburgh’s Patrick Jones was a good enough value pick in the fourth to justify this selection for me. He’s big enough to be an immediate role-player in a 4-3 scheme (6-5, 265lbs), and he had 17.5 sacks over his final two seasons at Pitt.

With Vinny Curry now in New York and Derek Barnett playing on a fifth-year option, investing back into the D-Line depth makes sense at this spot.

Pick Analysis. LB. Alabama. player. Scouting Report. Dylan Moses. 143. 54

I said I wanted to trade-up for a linebacker and I was able to pull it off here in the fifth-round. I sent pick 150 and pick 224 (value of 34.4) to the Minnesota Vikings for pick 143 (value of 34.5).

Alabama’s Dylan Moses was the last major impact linebacker left on the board, and I wanted to make sure I snagged him here in the fifth. The Eagles are entering this year’s draft with three sixth-round picks, so I had no problem shipping one of them away to Minnesota in order to land Moses.

Described by The Draft Network as a “heat-seeking missile that usually blows up whatever he comes into contact with”, Moses is exactly the type of player the Eagles need at their MLB position. Paired up alongside Alex Singleton and free agent addition Eric Wilson, Philly might actually have themselves a decent young LB trio moving forward.
