Kyle Trask, Florida

Another arm who would require an early Day 3 pick, Kyle Trask is coming off a pretty incredible senior season. He threw 43 touchdowns and 4,000 yards en route to an appearance in the National Championship. He was also a Heisman Trophy finalist, and likely would have won the award if it was not for DeVonta Smith and his record-breaking 2020 season.

Despite Trask’s unbelievable success at the collegiate level last year, the general consensus is that he’s not someone who should be expected to enter an organization as a day one starter, or even a day one backup. Trask relied primarily on his ability to “stay on script” during his time at Florida, something that is rarely easy to do at the professional level.

Trask also had a far greater tendency to target quick and short routes during college, as opposed to looking for receivers downfield. Another red flag that typically scares away NFL front offices.

With all of that said, Trask would still make a very solid addition to the Philadelphia Eagles QB room. Having such an experienced college QB to work with some of the backups is an addition in itself, and Trask has the potential to develop into a high-end backup later down the road.

It’s worth mentioning that some sites have Trask as a third-round or even a second-round pick due to his dominant senior season – he could very easily be out of play for Philly by Day 3.
