Philadelphia Eagles: Four *new* RB2 options to consider in 2021
By David Esser
Jason Huntley – Internal
Drifting towards an in-house option now, the Philadelphia Eagles claiming of Jason Huntley last offseason never really made any sense. They made a point of snatching him up following his preseason released off the Detroit Lions roster, but then never used him.
Appearing in five games and only receiving six total offensive touches, Huntley finished his rookie season with just 19 yards.
Now obviously, 19 yards isn’t a whole lot to go off of! On face value, Boston Scott appears like he would be the far better option moving forward when it comes to being a rotational RB. However, one has to assume that Howie Roseman and his team of scouts saw something when it came to Huntley last year.
A versatile runner coming off a 1,200+ yard senior season at New Mexico State, there’s at least some sense of untapped potential when it comes to Huntley and what he can bring to the table.
If Huntley has himself a good offseason camp, and is able to impress Nick Sirianni and the rest of the new coaching staff, I wouldn’t completely rule him out of the RB2 conversation. Huntley turns 23 later this month, and the Eagles have made a point all offseason long of “getting younger” moving forward.
