Danny Amendola

2020 Team: Detroit Lions

A 12 year veteran who’s played for four different franchises at this stage in his career, Danny Amendola more adequately fits the build of a “savvy veteran” that the Philadelphia Eagles should be targeting this offseason.

Set to turn 36 years old in November, Amendola is likely starting to think about retirement, and would probably welcome a low-stress job mentoring the Eagles very young group of wide receivers. It’s also worth mentioning that Amendola has always pretty exclusively been a slot WR, which is a position the Eagles could definitely use some added help at in 2021.

Dede Westbrook

2020 Team: Jacksonville Jaguars

Another high upside player similar to that of Kenny Stills, Dede Westbrook is the type of free agent who could end up being a bit of a “steal.”

Westbrook put up solid numbers for the Jaguars in both 2018 and 2019, and only really got phased out of the team’s plans due to the drafting of Laviska Shenault this past offseason. He also tore his ACL in Week 7, further ruining his chances at being re-signed by the Jags at some point during the regular season.

Similar to that of Amendola as well, Westbrook also primarily operates out of the slot. Not only is he young with some sense of untapped potential to him, but he also fills an immediate need for the Eagles here in 2021.

Whether they go for experience or pure upside, the Philadelphia Eagles would be wise to add at least one veteran receiver over the coming weeks. As much as they want guys like Jalen Reagor and Travis Fulgham to develop, waltzing into the regular season with zero veteran wideouts is a recipe for disaster.
