Raekwon McMillan

2020 Team: Las Vegas Raiders

After two promising seasons with the Miami Dolphins in 2018 and 2019, Raekwon McMillan was traded to Las Vegas in exchange for a late-round draft selection. It was an odd trade if I’m being completely honest, as the Raiders had just recently signed two free agent linebackers to fairly large contracts.

Predictably so, McMillan didn’t play a whole lot for the Raiders defense in 2020. He started in just four games, recording a measly 27 tackles on the season.

However, prior to his bizarre move to Vegas, McMillan had the makings of a high-upside, starting-caliber middle linebacker. Across his 2018 and 2019 seasons with the Dolphins he recorded 177 tackles and two forced fumbles.

At just 25 years of age, McMillan is a free agent that presents a lot of upside for the Philadelphia Eagles. Similar to that of Walker Jr., McMillan isn’t the greatest of pass defenders, but he’s an aggressive run stopper who has a ton of athleticism to him.

Coming off such a down year with the Raiders in 2020, McMillan would likely sign for extremely cheap given the opportunity to start on the Eagles defense in 2021. With so much raw potential still trapped in there, he’d be the type of “low-risk” signing that could end up paying off for the Eagles in a big way later down the road.
