Dede Westbrook

2020 Team: Jacksonville Jaguars

2020 was a very messy year for Dede Westbrook. Not only did he enter the season as WR4 on the Jaguars’ depth chart, but he ultimately ended up tearing his ACL in Week 7. He played just two games last season, recording one catch on one singular target.

It was clear that Jacksonville wanted nothing to do with him following the drafting of Laviska Shenault, and the injury that he suffered right before the trade deadline ruined any possibility of him getting a fresh start somewhere else.

Fast forward to the 2021 offseason, and Westbrook is likely just looking for a job at the moment. It’s unclear when exactly he’ll be 100% healthy, and he obviously has no significant tape from this past season to show off to interested teams.

Luckily for Westbrook, the Philadelphia Eagles should have no problem tossing a one-year deal at a player like this. Westbrook put up 1,347 total receiving yards between the 2018 and 2019 seasons, and would instantly enter Philadelphia as their best overall slot receiver.

Similar to Robinson, Westbrook could potentially hang around after 2021 as well. At just 27 years of age, Dede providing the Eagles with 2-3 total years of above average slot play moving forward (assuming he returns from his injury in adequate form) isn’t out of the realm of possibility.

The perfect type of “low-risk/high-reward” player to chuck a league minimum contract offer at in free agency.
