Philadelphia Eagles 7-round mock draft: Justin Fields falls to sixth overall
By David Esser
The Philadelphia Eagles select…
Continuing off the idea that the Eagles need to perform a bit of an overhaul when it comes to their defensive line, Mustafa Johnson is another name that I’m willing to throw into the mix here. With Malik Jackson set to be a post-June 1st release once the new league year begins, the Eagles will need to find themselves a DT3 moving forward.
At 6-2, 290lbs Johnson is a tad undersized to operate as a 4-3 defensive tackle, but his speed and agility could actually complement some of the team’s bigger bodied D-Linemen. Johnson would have to put on just a little bit of weight and have himself a solid training camp to get a proper nod as the team’s DT3 in 2021.
Even with Miles Sanders, Boston Scott, and Jason Huntley all likely set to be on the roster in 2021, the Philadelphia Eagles could use themselves another rotational running back moving forward.
Projected to be a serviceable RB3 at the professional level, Rakeem Boyd is a 6-0, 213lbs downhill rusher who generated most of his production in college via running through people, as opposed to around them.
A seventh round RB normally has slim odds of cracking the 53-man roster, but his size and strength could give him the leg up over someone like Huntley during training camp.
RECAP
The selection of Justin Fields in the first round surely rubbed some people the wrong way, but the rest of the mock lined up rather favorably from an Eagles standpoint. I was able to snag multiple young players at CB/WR, a new starting LB, and a handful of guys to beef up the trenches moving forward into 2021. Not bad at all.
