Philadelphia Eagles 7-round mock draft: Justin Fields falls to sixth overall

The Philadelphia Eagles select…
Even with Brandon Graham and Derek Barnett both likely set to return in 2021, the Philadelphia Eagles need to seriously overhaul their defensive line depth moving forward. Josh Sweat is an awesome piece (who’s due for a payday soon), but outside of that, the EDGE position is pretty barren.
At 6-3, 250lbs Malcolm Koonce would be a bit of a developmental project in a traditional 4-3 defense. The Eagles would need him to add on another 10-20lbs before he could see consistent playing time.
With that said, Koonce had 13.0 sacks over his last 17 games at Buffalo. He’s clearly a talented pass-rusher who’d be worth a little extra development work.
A 5-11, 183lbs corner out of Georgia, DJ Daniel projects to be a plus special teamer at the professional level. While the Philadelphia Eagles could definitely use an impact player on special teams (who isn’t Rudy Ford), Daniel is someone who could take advantage of an extremely weak Eagles secondary.
Even with the addition of Bryce Thompson earlier in the draft and 1-2 veteran corners via free agency, the Eagles need to add all sorts of depth to their secondary. Daniel possess a good amount of athleticism to him and could easily fill in as a sub-package corner for Jonathan Gannon’s defense in 2021.
If he excels in said role as a rookie, Daniel could be looking at further responsibilities in 2022.
