A.J. Bouye
Acquired to really boost up the Denver Broncos secondary last offseason following the departure of Chris Harris Jr., A.J. Bouye ended up having a pretty poor 2020 campaign. He missed nine total games due to a shoulder injury and a PED-related suspension, ultimately finishing the season with a career-worst allowed passer rating of 108.4 when targeted.
Bouye was due $11.7 million in 2021, but the Broncos opted to release him earlier last week instead, taking a dead cap hit in the process but getting the former Jaguars cornerback off their roster for good.
While Bouye was one of the better CBs in all of football during his time in Jacksonville, his career has taken a bit of a spiral since being traded to Denver. Missing so many games is never a good sign, especially when part of it was due to PEDs. The fact that the Broncos were willing to eat an $11+ million dead cap hit just to not deal with him anymore speaks volumes.
Bouye might end up getting some attention this offseason due to his name value, but if he doesn’t, he’d be worth a look from the Philadelphia Eagles front office. He can definitely line up on the outside at CB2, which is undoubtedly Philly’s biggest need at the moment when it comes to their secondary.
It is worth noting that Bouye is still serving out his suspension. He’s set to miss the first two games of the 2021 season.
