The offense in general.

Despite their inability to crack the playoffs last season, the Philadelphia Phillies still had one of the best offenses in all of baseball. Compared to the entire MLB, the Phils ranked:

7th in team OPS (.781)

9th in team batting average (.257)

4th in team on-base percentage (.342)

6th in runs scored (306)

7th in strikeouts (480) *as in 7th fewest strikeouts*

By all accounts, the Phillies had a top-ten offense last season. Seeing as Dombrowski was able to re-sign both J.T. Realmuto and Didi Gregorius, while simultaneously bringing in an above average bench piece in Brad Miller, the general thought process is that the offense will continue to be elite.

A middle-of-the-order lineup that consists of Rhys Hoskins, Harper, Realmuto, Gregorius, and Alec Bohm is enough to make most opposing managers lose some sleep the night before.

While the team’s pitching (specifically their bullpen) will have to do their part in regards to keeping the offense in ballgames more frequently, the Phillies ability to produce a ton of runs alone should keep them in the mix most nights.

At the end of the day, the easiest way to beat your opponent is by scoring more runs than them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
