Joe Flacco

Born and raised in New Jersey, former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco is a name that was heavily linked to the Philadelphia Eagles last offseason – prior to them selecting Jalen Hurts in the second round of the NFL Draft. The general consensus was that Flacco ultimately leaned against signing with Philadelphia due to the presence of Marty Mornhinweg, who he had clashed heads with in Denver.

With Mornhinweg now out of the picture entirely (thank God), Flacco might be a tad more inclined to join the Eagles as a backup QB. Throw in the fact that Carson Wentz is also gone, and Flacco might feel better about getting himself some actual in-game action.

Flacco went 0-4 as a starter in 2020, but he didn’t play as poorly as his record may indicate. He threw six touchdowns compared to just three interceptions, and he averaged 200+ passing yards per game. Playing behind the worst offensive line in the NFL throwing to some of the worst receivers in the NFL, and that’s not too shabby for a 35+ year old Flacco.

Unlike the other names mentioned on this list, Flacco essentially brings zero controversy to the Philadelphia Eagles QB room. If Flacco is the external option Roseman ends up bringing in, Hurts would almost definitely end up remaining the team’s starter.
