Philadelphia Eagles: Free agent options from the NFC South
New Orleans Saints: PJ Williams, CB
We thought the Philadelphia Eagles were in a bad situation with the cap? The New Orleans Saints say, “Hold my beer.”
The Saints currently sit at the bottom of the list when it comes to available cap space for all 32 NFL teams. They have a ton of free agents and look like they could also be in for a small rebuild. So, there’s a good chance a key player for them will be gone.
With all this, the Philadelphia Eagles should do their research on PJ Williams.
It’s no secret the Eagles secondary needs to be revamped again for 2021. Darius Slay is good, but that’s about it. The rest of the roster is filled with either practice squad or slot cornerbacks. It isn’t a good situation in the secondary.
With the addition of Jonathan Gannon as the new defensive coordinator, this would be a good chance to bring in guys that he wants to work with. Williams has improved his last three seasons as the Saints cornerback, with his targeted passer rating and touchdowns allowed going down each of those three years.
At 28, he’s still young and has plenty of football left in him. If everything is right and a one-year prove-it deal works for both sides, the Philadelphia Eagles should look to bring him in.
