Javonte Williams, RB

North Carolina’s feature back who really saw his stock skyrocket this past season, Javonte Williams offers the Philadelphia Eagles a solid option behind the likes of Miles Sanders. Nick Sirianni really leaned on a “running back by committee” approach during his time with the Indianapolis Colts, and the general assumption is that he’ll employ a similar philosophy here in Philly.

While Boston Scott is a decent enough backup, Williams is a pretty sizable upgrade at the position.

At 5-10, 220lbs Williams is a powerful runner – one who forced a lot of broken tackles and was constantly fighting for extra yards. Couple this with his explosive speed and above-average elusiveness, and it’s no surprise that he was one of the top runners in college football.

Williams also proved to be a pretty willing pass-blocker, something that the Eagles struggled with at the RB position in 2020. There were a handful of times where Scott or Sanders completely missed a free rusher en route to drilling Carson Wentz in the pocket.

Coming off such a productive season, some mocks have Williams as a lock for the second round. However, RBs always seem to slip a little further than initially projected. Owning the sixth pick in the third round, Williams could definitely be in play for the Eagles should he end up falling on draft night.
