New York Giants: Wayne Gallman, RB

After letting Jordan Howard walk for free agency, the Philadelphia Eagles never found their RB2 to pair with Miles Sanders. Yes, Boston Scott can be good and show glimpses of great plays, but he can’t be an every-down running back or even a steady RB2 for this team. He’s more of a change of pace back and can thrive best in that Darren Sproles role of contributing in the run and pass game. Corey Clement can’t fill that role either, as he’ll probably be on his way out of Philadelphia as well.

To find their RB2 and get a good backup when Sanders is out, Wayne Gallman of the New York Giants would be a good way to go.

The Giants running back has seen a lot of time his first four years in the league. More of a split carry guy in the beginning; Gallman saw a lot of time in 2020, with Saquon Barkley missing basically the entire season. It was his best season by far, running for 682 yards and six touchdowns on the year. One of his biggest improvements over the years has been cutting down on his fumbles, as he went from three in his rookie year to four total in the next three seasons.

He’s not the biggest threat to catch the ball, but that shouldn’t be what you are going to him for, as you’d have players like Scott and Sanders in on pass plays.

Before the 2020 season, it looked like it was going to be a big offseason for running backs. Now that all of the top backs signed their extensions, Gallman climbs a little on the rankings for free agent backs. Regardless of how much interest he gets, the Philadelphia Eagles should be one of the teams looking to bring him in.
