The Philadelphia Eagles will be looking for ways to bring in new talent this offseason. Unfortunately, they will be on a very tight leash when it comes to spending money, as they’ll need to move on from several contracts before thinking about bringing in new players.

The needs on this team are all over the place on both sides of the ball, so there’s no true place to start. Everything needs to be fixed.

How they go about bringing in new players will be interesting, but would they be able to bring in new players they are familiar with? In this upcoming free agency, not only should they look at their own free agents, but it would be a good idea to do their research on players they see twice a year, that being the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, and Washington Football. Here are the free agents the Eagles should keep an eye on within the NFC East.

Philadelphia Eagles: Jalen Mills, S

It feels like the biggest love-hate relationship with Jalen Mills.

We get on him for getting beat down the field by an opposing receiver, missing a tackle, and looking lost at times in open space. The next moment, we’re back in his corner watching him do his covenant finger wag after breaking up a pass or forcing an incompletion. It’s never one firm side with Mills, and we probably wouldn’t have it any other way throughout his career.

The former seventh-round pick out of LSU has been a very productive player in his five years with the Philadelphia Eagles. He brings the swagger, energy, and heart that the defense needs. He’s proven to be a very versatile player, making the transition from cornerback to strong safety this past season.

Is he the best safety out there? Definitely not. Is he the worst? Definitely not. We’ve made the case before on why he should return. He’s a very serviceable defensive player that has become a true vocal voice on this Eagles defense.

Last offseason, Mills re-signed on a one-year, $4 million deal. He’s already mentioned that he would want to come back and play safety again for the Eagles. If he’s willing to come back on a similar deal like that, I think it would be best for both sides to run it back for one more year. The Eagles need a mix of youth and experience, and Mills can provide both for them.
