The Philadelphia Eagles select…

Am I really going to mock three straight defensive backs? Why yes, yes I am. Like I mentioned previously, the Philadelphia Eagles need a complete overhaul done in their secondary, and Jonathan Gannon was a DBs coach in Indianapolis before joining the Eagles as defensive coordinator.

Camryn Bynum was a four-year starter at California, operating almost exclusively as an outside corner. There’s nothing wrong with that, especially when you take into consideration how tough it is to land quality boundary CBs these days.

At 6-0, 198 lbs, he’s another good developmental project for Gannon to take under his wings this offseason.

On face value, it may seem like the Eagles have pretty solid offensive tackle depth. However, considering the fact that Andre Dillard, Lane Johnson, and Jack Driscoll all suffered season-ending injuries last season, plus the fact that Prince Tega-Wanogho was poached away from the Eagles a few weeks ago, and the need for further OT depth is definitely present.

Alaric Jackson is 6-5, 315 lbs, and was described as “country strong” this past collegiate season. He’s got above average quickness and decent enough strength when it comes to run-blocking.

There’s some concern that Jackson might have to transition to guard upon entering the NFL, which really isn’t a bad thing considering the state of the Eagles offensive line at the moment. If anything, they could use more guard help than tackle help.

Drafting Jackson just to immediately transition him to guard might just be the smartest play here.
