Philadelphia Eagles 7-round mock draft: Trading back for a new star WR
By David Esser
The Philadelphia Eagles select…
Mocking second round picks for the Philadelphia Eagles is genuinely a difficult task – there’s simply too many positions of need for the team at the moment. You can make convincing arguments for cornerback, safety, and linebacker all being what the team should target with their 38th overall pick.
In this specific mock, there were no DBs or LBs that particularly excited me. So, I went with the next best thing – offensive line.
Not only was the Eagles offensive line a complete disaster in 2020, but they’re operating on expired time. Jason Kelce has been pondering retirement for two full seasons now, Brandon Brooks is coming off his third major surgery in as many years, and Lane Johnson could barely walk last season. The Eagles desperately need to infuse their O-Line with young, talented blockers.
Creed Humphrey is most people’s top-rated center this year, and picking him up in the second round would be some wicked value. Not only would he serve as a valuable backup on the interior in 2021, but he could easily takeover as Kelce’s replacement for the next couple of seasons.
Should Kelce hit the Eagles with a much alluded to retirement this offseason, Humphrey would instantly enter the NFL as a starting center.
