Bruins . Demetric Felton . 5. player. 836. . Running Back/Slot

If the Philadelphia Eagles opted against selecting a running back in the second round – which feels incredibly unlikely considering they have oh so many needs to address – and want a bit more speed instead of power, UCLA’s Demetric Felton just might be the man for the job.

A worthy descendent in the long line of Chip Kelly scatbacks, Felton played four years for the former Eagles skipper in Westwood – amassing 2,059 all-purpose yards and 15 touchdowns as a combination rusher/slot receiver for the Bruins.

While Felton probably won’t be matching carries with Carter anytime soon, he does present unique upside as a rusher/receiver who can run the ball half a dozen times, take a dozen or so snaps a game out of the slot, and even switch between the two from snap to snap in a no-huddle offense.

Felton is also a plus kick returner who can use his speed and elusivity to weave his way through traffic and hit a home run every now and then.

If Nick Sirianni decides to take a page out of Doug Pederson’s playbook and opts to incorporate some RPO into his offense, Felton is an ideal change of pace back who can do a lot of the same things Nyheim Hines did with the Colts from 2018-20. Heck, there’s a small but not insignificant chance that Felton could develop into an Antonio Gibson-esque rusher who can move the ball as a runner first and a receiver second – even if that seems like somewhat of a longshot considering the two aren’t particularly similar on the field, or in body composition.

No, Felton is the kind of player who would shine in a role similar to that of De’Anthony Thomas but with more offensive upside. Like Thomas at Oregon, Felton is a human cheat code when he gets his hands on the ball. He has great speed, solid left-to-right agility, and an uncanny ability to remain upright through contact.
