Philadelphia Eagles: 7 players who will benefit from a new head coach
By David Esser
Carson Wentz
Last but not least, quarterback Carson Wentz will almost undoubtedly have a better season in 2021 under a new set of eyes. The relationship between him and Doug Pederson reportedly completely deteriorated during this past season, getting to the point where Wentz was all but ready to force his way out of Philly should Pederson have returned for another year.
For what it’s worth, Wentz has a genuine argument. Doug Pederson’s play calling has been below average for quite some time now, with 2020 really being the boiling point for a lot of different people. Pederson routinely failed to put Wentz and his receivers in a position to succeed, which is reflected by the team’s miserable 4-11-1 record.
Obviously Wentz wasn’t helping his case either with his routine reckless play, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that Doug has struggled to keep up with the rest of the NFL in terms of designing innovate offensive schemes.
Whether it’s Joe Brady, Kellen Moore, Josh McDaniels or even some other surprise candidate, it’s hard to imagine Wentz having a season similar to what he had in 2020.
Throw in the fact that the Eagles will likely add another receiver in the first or second round, and the likelihood of Wentz rebounding under the guidance of a new HC is high.
