K’Von Wallace

When the Philadelphia Eagles ended up with safety K’Von Wallace in the fourth round, many felt they had gotten themselves a steal. Wallace was a hyper versatile defensive back who played extremely well for Clemson, causing some early mocks to pin him as high as a second round talent. Considering Jim Schwartz’ love for DBs who can play multiple positions, it really did seem like a match made in heaven.

However, Wallace suffered some injuries early on in the regular season and just never got back into favor with the now former defensive coordinator. By season’s end, Wallace found himself at the back end of the depth chart behind the likes of Grayland Arnold and Rudy Ford.

Wallace will be getting a new defensive coordinator (or defensive head coach, albeit unlikely) in 2021, and he’ll likely be forced into a far bigger role. Rodney McLeod is currently rehabbing from ACL surgery, which puts his availability for next season up in the air, and last year’s starting SS Jalen Mills is set to be an unrestricted free agent.

Under the guidance of a new defensive mind, Wallace could very well see himself named a starting safety in 2021. Considering his strong play at Clemson and his vast versatility, it’s a role that I genuinely see him thriving in.
