Philadelphia Eagles 7-round mock draft: New head coach…new QB?
By David Esser
The Philadelphia Eagles select…
It wouldn’t be a Howie Roseman draft without a defensive lineman!
In all seriousness, edge is a bit of an underrated need for the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason. Vinny Curry is a free agent, and Malik Jackson is expected to be flat out released at some point. Outside of Josh Sweat (who is great btw), the team has little to no defensive end depth.
Daelin Hayes is a high-ceiling player whose college career has been derailed a bit due to injuries. His athletic profile (6-4, 266lbs) projects him to be a good fit in a 4-3 scheme, which suits the Eagles assuming they continue to run the same defensive scheme that they did under Jim Schwartz.
Similar to Sweat, Hayes could see himself thrive in a rotational role early on in his career as he continues to get healthier and healthier.
Another major position of need, the Philadelphia Eagles need to take at least one cornerback in the 2021 draft.
Thomas Graham Jr. played strictly as an outside corner for the Ducks’ defense, which is fine considering the fact that Avonte Maddox desperately needs to move back into the slot.
Graham isn’t the greatest of athletes compared to other CB prospects, but his above average ball skills and ability to line up as a boundary corner make him a decent fit to pair alongside Darius Slay.
