Jackie Bradley Jr., CF

Another player that the Philadelphia Phillies have actually been linked to this offseason, a reunion between Dombrowsi and Jackie Bradley Jr. feels somewhat inevitable. Not only is there a strong sense of familiarity between the two parties, but the Phillies were linked to JBJ during this past year’s trade deadline, showing that the organization as a whole is fond of the former Gold Glover.

You can make the argument that the Phillies don’t necessarily need a free agent CF considering Adam Haseley’s presence, but manager Joe Girardi has done little to show that he trusts Haseley longterm. JBJ is an instant upgrade, and one that Girardi would have no problem playing on a daily basis

Bradley Jr. is coming off a strong 2020 campaign, one that saw him slash .283/.364/.450 over the course of 55 games. His defense remains elite out in center field, which is a huge spot of need for the Phillies considering their borderline league-worst defense last season.

JBJ turns 31 in April, so he’s definitely on the older side of things, but he can still be counted on to provide 2-3 years’ worth of solid play out in center. For where the Phillies are at in terms of their “contention window”, that might be too good to pass on for Dombrowski.
