Brock Holt, INF/OF

And last but not least, utility man Brock Holt would genuinely be a welcome addition to the Philadelphia Phillies shaky bench. He’s coming off a pretty horrific 2020 season, which means his asking price will be super low (possible minor league contract?), and he has an obvious connection to recently hired President Dave Dombrowski.

Prior to 2020, Holt was an extremely productive player for the Red Sox. He slashed .270/.340/.374, and proved super valuable as a versatile infielder and outfielder. Holt even cracked an All-Star game back during the 2015 season, Dombrowski’s first year in Boston.

Like mentioned previously, the Phillies have little in terms of depth at the moment, specifically in their infield. They need bodies behind Kingery and Segura, and Holt could fill that role pretty adequately. Signing Holt would be nothing to write home about, but little depth signings like these can sometimes be the different between a playoff roster and a sub-.500 roster.

I like Kike Hernandez better when it comes to adding a hyper-utility player, but if the Phils get priced out of the ex-Dodger, Holt would be a fine consolidation prize. He gets the job done, and his strong connection to Dombrowski could see him sign for cheap.
