All the reasons that make Indianapolis an attractive landing spot for Carson Wentz also apply to Ertz. Tons of cap space, a need at the position, desire to win now, and a familiar head coach in Frank Reich.

During Ertz’ media time on Monday he was specifically asked about the possibility of pulling a “Tom Brady and Gronk” with Wentz, alluding to the idea of following Wentz wherever he goes so he can continue playing with his favorite quarterback. Ertz seemed very open to the idea, making a potential “package deal” a possibility for the partnership moving forward. Ertz and Wentz have an extremely strong relationship both on and off the field, and I’m confident both would welcome a move to the Colts if it meant they were going together.

The Colts are set to have a ton of cap space this offseason, and they have a GM who has proven he’s willing to part with valuable draft picks in order to land elite talent. He gave up a first-round pick for DeFrrest Buckner last offseason, and has reaped the benefits with an 11-5 record this season.

Considering Reich’s personal connection to Ertz (and Wentz), the Colts front office would likely happily shoot over a draft pick to secure Reich some Super Bowl caliber offensive weapons for the future.
